This newly updated and renamed zine is, simply, a glossary of terms that come up during the desperate search for meaning that comes with an Autism diagnosis. I went through it. I know other people go through it. There are plenty of books, either more clinical, or more autobiographical out there. This one cuts straight through shackles of narrative to provide discrete chunks of information in an easy to navigate, dictionary format.
A is for Autistic is steeped in my personal experience and lightened with a touch of humor. People I’ve shared it with have said it’s very helpful and insightful. My hope is that autists, other neurodivergent people, or nt people closely involved with neurodivergent people, can find this zine a relatable and a useful resource.
A is for Autistic is available from Microcosm Publishing in the US, and Pen Fight Distro in the UK. It also finds it’s way to a lot of independent bookstores.
